What Woodbine Is Like
In 1840 much of this land was part of David Hughes's 150-acre farm, and the Woodbine name is credited to his daughter, after the honeysuckle vines on the property. The area filled in during the early 1900s, largely with workers from the nearby railroad yards. Today you will find original bungalows and cottages, mid-century brick homes, renovations, and newer infill and townhomes.
Nolensville Pike is the main corridor, lined with Kurdish, Ethiopian, Mexican, Thai, and Middle Eastern restaurants and markets. Woodbine Park and the Coleman Park Community Center are close by, and the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere and the Fairgrounds are a short drive. I-440, I-24, and I-65 are all nearby for getting around town.
