What The Gulch Is Like

For decades The Gulch was rail yards and parking lots below the downtown bluff. Redevelopment started in the early 2000s, and in 2009 it became one of the first neighborhoods in the South certified under the LEED for Neighborhood Development program. Today it is a dense mix of condo towers, apartments, offices, and hotels, and new buildings keep going up.

Most daily needs are a short walk away, including grocery shopping, coffee, and some of the city's busiest restaurants. The Station Inn, a bluegrass venue that has been here since the 1970s, sits alongside the newer buildings. Music Row, Midtown, SoBro, and Broadway are all close, and the I-40 and I-65 loop is minutes away.
