What Sylvan Park Is Like
Sylvan Park dates to 1887, when the Nashville Land Improvement Company laid it out as a planned suburb west of the city, and a streetcar once ran down Park Avenue. That planned-community history is why most of the neighborhood has sidewalks. Today you'll see original cottages, bungalows, and Queen Anne-style homes alongside many newer two-story and tall, narrow builds.
McCabe Park sits on the south side with a 27-hole public golf course, a community center, and access to the Richland Creek Greenway. Richland Park and its library branch are near Charlotte Avenue, and local restaurants and coffee shops are scattered along Murphy Road and Charlotte. I-440 and I-40 are close, so getting to Midtown or downtown is quick.
