Laurelbrooke was developed by Southern Land Company beginning in 1999 and is organized into five areas: the Woodlands, Estates, Reserve, Lakes, and Boulevard. Homes are custom estates in brick and stone, in Traditional, French Chateau, and Tudor styles, typically about 4,300 to more than 14,000 square feet with 4 to 6 bedrooms. Lots run from about half an acre to around three acres. Streets include Waterstone Boulevard, Iron Gate Drive, Flagstone Drive, Whispering Hills Drive, and Vaughn Crest Drive.

The community has two entrances with a staffed 24-hour gate, plus a clubhouse, pool, fitness center, tennis and pickleball courts, a basketball court, a playground, fishing ponds, walking trails, and sidewalks. About 200 acres are preserved as woodland. Cool Springs is a short drive, and downtown Franklin is about 10 minutes away.
