What Hillsboro Village Is Like

Hillsboro Village started as a streetcar stop. Around 1920, groceries and a pharmacy opened along the trolley line on Hillsboro Road, and homes filled in on the surrounding streets over the next two decades. Hillsboro Road splits the area into two neighborhoods: Hillsboro-West End to the west and Belmont-Hillsboro to the east. Expect older bungalows, Tudors, and foursquares on smaller city lots, along with duplexes, condos, and some newer homes.

The village itself is a few blocks of local shops and restaurants, including the Belcourt Theatre, a nonprofit film house in a building that opened in 1925, and the Pancake Pantry. Vanderbilt is next door, Belmont University and Music Row are minutes away, and Fannie Mae Dees Park, known locally as Dragon Park, is a short walk from the village.
